Noi Bai Airport to Central Hanoi: 4 Ways
Four ways from Noi Bai Airport to Hanoi Station and the Temple of Literature: hotel transfer, taxi and ride-hailing, bus 86 to Hanoi Station, and city buses.
1 min read

The plane lands, the terminal doors slide open and Hanoi's air rushes in: heavy in June, sharp in December. The Temple of Literature and Hanoi Station area is 25 to 30 km from Noi Bai, across the Red River. Here are four ways in, from easiest to cheapest.
1. Hotel transfer
The least effort, especially on a late flight. Put your flight number in the note field when you send a booking request, or message reception; a driver waits in arrivals and takes you to the door. It is a paid service, quoted in advance, so there is no haggling at midnight.
2. Taxi and ride-hailing
Grab, Xanh SM and regular taxis pick up at arrivals in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The ride takes about 35 to 50 minutes, longer in rush hour. Booking in an app shows the fare up front; with a street taxi, pick a known company and make sure the meter is on.
3. Bus 86, which ends at Hanoi Station
This express route stops at both terminals, passes the Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake and terminates at Hanoi Station, about five minutes' walk from Narcissus Le Duan. There is space for luggage, and it suits solo travellers and couples who aren't in a rush.
4. City buses
Regular routes such as 7 and 17 are the cheapest but stop often and need a change to reach the Temple of Literature area. Best if you travel light and have time.
Tips
- Landing before the 2:00 PM check-in? Drop your bags at reception and head out.
- Reception can exchange currency, so there's no need to change much at the airport.
- Coming by train instead? Read staying near Hanoi Railway Station.
